Temporary Visas

“Non-immigrant” visas include visas that are issued for temporary periods of time for a variety of reasons such as tourism, study, work, or business purposes. Most temporary visas require that the individual visa holder maintain a permanent address in their home country, and that the visa holder leave the United States at the conclusion of his or her temporary purpose. Temporary visa categories include, but are not limited to:

  • O-1 Artists and other persons of extraordinary or outstanding ability in their field of endeavor
  • H-1B Specialty occupations
  • L-1 Intracompany Transferees
  • E-1 Treaty Trader and Treaty Investors
  • E-2 Treaty Investors
  • I Journalists and other foreign media workers
  • J-1 Cultural Exchange Programs (Interns and Trainees)
  • P-1 Performing Groups
  • F-1 Students
  • M-1 Vocational Students
